The Mangalore Excursion
Welcome to The Mangalore Excursion, a landmark urban design project that redefines how a city lives, works, and grows. Set along the scenic coastal belt of Mangalore, this visionary development transforms underutilized waterfront land into a thriving hub of business, culture, and recreation. From its striking, parametric roof inspired by Mumbai’s iconic airport terminal to its dynamic waterfront experiences, The Mangalore Excursion is more than architecture - it’s a living ecosystem. A place where professionals, students, and citizens connect through commerce, creativity, and community. It’s not just a project. It’s a blueprint for how Indian cities can build their economic and social future - inclusive, vibrant, and self-sustaining.

Concept & Vision
A study of Mangalore’s urban fabric led to identifying potential areas for economic activation. One such site was developed into this commercial and cultural center, designed to generate business, attract investment, and enrich everyday life.
The Three-Zone Masterplan
The Working Zone - For Professionals & Investors
Houses auditoriums, classrooms, exhibition halls, and cafeterias with world-class amenities.
The sweeping roof unifies all functions, evolving into a stadium form near the auditorium.
Built to attract investors, conferences, and high-profile events - making it the economic heart of the project.
The Semi-Public Zone - For Students & Explorers
Acts as a bridge between work and leisure.
Three subzones:
Family Lawn with greenery and an A/C restaurant.
Youth Bay by the river — beach vibes, music, themed cafés, and a dipping pool.
Central Café Pavilion with 360° views and twin ramps overlooking both the commercial center and riverside.
The Public Zone - For Locals & Visitors
Open seating in diverse themes and materials.
Outdoor gym and dock for ferry rides connecting coastal Mangalore.
Promotes tourism, water sports, and local employment, turning the area into a sustainable public magnet.
Design Philosophy & Impact
Integrated Living: Seamlessly connects business, leisure, and community.
Sustainable Design: Climate-responsive, shaded, and pedestrian-friendly.
Economic Catalyst: Sparks business growth, tourism, and job creation.
Summary
The Mangalore Excursion brings together the working class, the semi-public, and the free-public — uniting commerce, culture, and community under one flowing architectural vision.
A project that doesn’t just redesign a space — it reimagines how a city can live.
